Grape Ape is a hybrid – indica dominant strain with eighteen to twenty-four percent THC and a CBD content of < 1%. It has a high that can be used to get creative work done or induce deep, restful sleep. Grape Ape tastes much the same way you’d expect given its name. The result of crossing Mendocino Purps with Skunk and Original Afghani, this strain has become famous for its big flavor and beautiful coloration. The buds are dense and large, with a somewhat globular shape. When GA plants are exposed to temperatures in the sixties or fifties Fahrenheit at night, the chlorophyll in them degrades. This allows the dark purple anthocyanins beneath all that green to shine through, much like leaves changing color in the autumn. This gives Grape Ape the third reason for its purple name, the first two being its flavor and Purps ancestor. Flowers of this weed come in a wide variety of colors, from spring green and aquamarine to lavender, and even burgundy and aubergine. Combined with rust-colored pistils and dense frostings of trichomes, crops of this plant have incredible bag appeal. This is a wonderful strain for both recreation and medicine. A few tokes can give people with ADHD and restless brains the calm and focus they require to get things done, but larger drags will help chronic pain, inflammation, and insomnia disappear quickly. How to Germinate Grape Ape Auto Fem Seeds

Grape Ape does well when germinated using the paper towel method. This has the added benefit of being one of the least fussy ways to germinate seeds. Some folks like to start this process by soaking their cannabis seeds in a glass of water for a day or two, until the first little tails of the sprouts are showing. However, we find that’s not really necessary most of the time. Place a clean paper towel on a plate and get it wet using distilled water with a balanced pH. If you are going to germinate multiple strains at a time, it’s wise to label your paper towel with a waterproof writing utensil first. The paper towel should be sufficiently wet to hold moisture for at least a day, but not so wet that it creates standing water on the plate. Put your Ape Grape seeds on the plate, making sure they each have at least an inch of space to grow in any direction. Place another wet paper towel on top of the seeds and an upside-down plate on top of that. Put this collection of seeds, towels, and plates in a safe, warm, dark, and relatively dry space where there isn’t a lot of draftiness or temperature fluctuations. Seeds like to be slightly above room temperature to germinate, somewhere in the low seventies will suffice. Anything significantly hotter might decrease the chances of getting a ninety percent germination rate. You can use a combination of a seedling heating pad and a large freezer bag to troubleshoot issues with stable temperatures or fluctuating humidity. Assess your seeds at least once a day and make sure they’re not drying out between visits. In one to three days the seeds should start to sprout, and they’ll be ready to transplant within a week.

Growing Ape Grape From Seed From Seed At Home

Ape Grape is not too hard to cultivate, especially when grown from autoflower seeds. The photoperiod plants have a reputation for being more difficult. Growing it indoors is recommended, so long as there is enough space for this bushy indica to spread out. These plants don’t often get over four feet tall. Pruning is required here to keep airflow high and humidity down. It’s also wise to get an array of desk fans to oscillate around the plants to keep airflow moving. Cutting off leaves that block light and air from reaching the nether regions is also recommended. However, be aware that autoflowering plants have much shorter growing times than photoperiod plants and have a much more difficult time bouncing back from over-pruning. Think twice, cut once is a good mantra here. Growing these plants in living soil with a pH around six and a combination of coco coir and perlite added for drainage and moisture retention, respectively, is a best practice. Use organic fertilizers when growing in soil. They like moderate warmth and lots of sun and are resistant to all kinds of molds and pests. However, you’ll want to protect them from rainstorms and humid summer days. Keep humidity indoors around fifty percent during the vegetative phase. Depending on your growing situation, the plants might like it as low as forty-five percent RH from quite early on. They can handle temperatures between eighty and sixty-five degrees, and prefer the high seventies with at least a ten degree difference between day and night temperatures. This will help to ensure that the shocking period during flushing will only degrade chlorophyll and not hurt the plants themselves with unexpected chilliness. When treated well, these plants can produce up to 450-500g/m2 when grown indoors or 80-140g per plant outdoors.

Flowering Time For Purple Ape Autoflower

During flowering it’s wise to keep the soil or hydro solution Purple Ape is grown in more basic than other plants, around pH 6.3 or even 6.6 is fabulous. Turn the heat up slightly, going not much higher than eighty degrees and keeping it even throughout the day. It also likes warm air with a steep drop off at night, as much as twenty-four degrees if you’re growing this plant at eighty degrees! Ride the fifty percent humidity all the way through the vegetative phase, and then step it down to forty as the plant begins to flower. Autoflowering plants don’t traditionally love a lot of nutrients, but this plant will want some calcium and magnesium as well as some extra phosphorus and potassium as it begins to flower. Buds will grow on multiple sites, especially if you give them a little bit of low stress training to support growth on lower branches. Towering stalks of heavy inflorescences may need to be supported by pantyhose or a mesh screen. This plant can also do well being lollipopped near the end of its growing cycle. Pruning all lower growth and most large leaves to focus energy on large bud colas can have impressive effects when done just before flushing. Flowering time for Purple Ape is between 10-11 weeks. That’s somewhat longer than other autoflowering plants, but the extra time is used to grow massive and beautiful flowers. Buds are very dense and large, much like in many other Ape named strains. They can get quite deep purple during flushing if they are exposed to cooler nighttime temperatures that degrade their chlorophyll and bring out the dark anthocyanins beneath. Harvest them outdoors in September or October, once most of the trichomes have turned a milky white.

What Makes Grape Apes Strain Popular?

Grape Apes is popular thanks to its intensely consistent flavor and mellow knockout effects. The strong Welch’s grape juice flavor translates beautifully to concentrates, which benefit from its overpowering sweet fruitiness. Dabbing can diversify the experience of this weed thanks to its stacked terpene profile. Using precise temperatures, it’s possible to get earthy and spicy musks out of it thanks to humulene and caryophyllene joining the herbs and berry top notes. It’s beautiful and massive buds make it especially popular with weed connoisseurs, who appreciate how dense and powerful just a little nugget can be! The Purple genes in GA give it the ability to change colors just before harvest, with everything from lilac and seafoam to more red wine and black cherry colors showing up in spots. Accessorized by red pistil hairs, it’s truly a sight to behold. Difficult to grow as a photoperiod plant, these autoflowering pot seeds make growing this strain significantly easier. They don’t get as tall as the traditional seeds and can handle a little more humidity and neglect. The child of three legends itself, Grape Ape is also the parent of two of the most talked about candy-themed weed strains of the last few years, Zkittlez and Nerds. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not related to the infamous Grape God, who is actually a cross between Grapefruit and God Bud. What has people truly raving about Ape Grape is its relaxing and calming effects, which are never intense or in your face. This ape isn’t hollering or beating its chest, it’s a gentle giant sitting on a mountainside in the rain, chewing on some choice herbs. Almost all the reviews of AG are people talking about its grounded, placid high. A few tokes and even the most dramatic among us gets some perspective.

Fragrance, and Flavors of Grape Ape Auto Fem

The smell of these plants can fill an entire room with grape candy and dank fragrances after just a week or two of flowering time. Plants of GA smell skunky thanks to their Skunk genes, quelle surprise, which can balance out the sometimes intense impression of artificial red berries this strain produces. The sweet notes of the aromas are likely due to the presence of valencene and myrcene in the resin. Buds smell like a mix between sour grape candies and a blackberry bush in late summer, with faint hints of pine and fresh astringents thanks to eucalyptol. Once they’re ground up, a smell like dank wet skunk and hash is released, possibly an expression of the alpha humulene, which can give it a bit of a hops and woody herbs flavor depending on how the terpenes roll out during growing. Wafting over top of this skunkiness is a rich pine and lemon smell thanks to alpha pinene and beta pinene, which can act as bronchodilators and might be responsible for how heavy the smoke of GA can be. A dry toke of Grape Ape tastes like a jolly rancher with just a little bit of sourness, with dark fruity highlights reminiscent of a black cherry soda. The flavor of the smoke is sickly sweet, a bit like stevia or aspartame with a grape kick. Grape Ape tastes mostly like concord grapes and artificial purple flavor, but there are also hints of other fruits and sugars, along with a fascinating, flowery exhale that brings out some of the woodiness of phytol and borneol. Floral notes of lilac and lavender, with notes of strawberry and a hint of citrus flowers thanks to alpha phellandrene are strong in the mouth and in the air. The aftertaste is surprisingly spicy, possibly due to the anti-inflammatory beta caryophyllene.
